2012 Bletchingly Stakes Tips & Betting Update

July 27th, 2012

The Bletchingly Stakes 2012 will take centre stage at Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday and having studied the field and form guide for the weight-for-age feature below are our exclusive betting tips as well as an odds update for the last Group race of the season.

There are just 12 horses left in the field for the $125,000 Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m), due to run as Caulfield Race 6 at 3:07pm, following the early scratchings of dual Group 1 winner Heart Of Dreams, their stablemate Tariana and Diplomatic Force.

In the latest Bletchingly Stakes odds at bookmaker.com.au there is one firm favourite the punters are getting right behind, 2010 Krisflyer International Sprint winner Green Birdie.

After opening as long as $5 to win their first race down under in six years, the now Tony Vasil-trained eight-year-old having spent the best part of their career racing from Hong Kong, Green Birdie has been smashed in the markets and is now at $3.

They raced first-up in the Monash Stakes and finished seventh to Platelet.

Forgive that run, they had a horror draw (15 of 15), missed the start and got caught in traffic on the Heavy (9) track.

Another Bletchingly Stakes betting market mover is second elect Zamorar in from $5 to $4.50, the promising three-year-old after back-to-back wins at the track and distance.

But which horse should you have your money on?

Is it one of the well-fanced top two?

Does drifting $6 third pick Ready To Rip have claims to hand Peter Moody successive wins in the Bletchingly following the success of Mid Summer Music 12 months ago?

Or is there a longer priced outsider in the markets that will prove the value bet of the day such as 2011 Oakleigh Plate winner Eagle Falls ($9), consistent Darren Weir-trained mare Royal Bender ($10) or progressive four-year-old Dusty Star ($12)?

Bletchingly Stakes 2012 Tips – Caulfield Race 6 Betting

1st: # Ready To Rip

Bet Now: $6

They are easing in the markets but there’s plenty to like about the value on Ready To Rip. Moody won this race with his subsequent Straddie champ Mid Summer Music last year, who came off a second in the All Victorian Sprint Final and he is after another with his recent stable acquisition here.

Ready To Rip won the All Victorian Sprint last time out in a nice form line and will also be ridden by last year’s winning jockey Luke Nolen.

He may be drawn wide in gate eight but if there’s traffic he’ll be out of it and while he rises in the weights from last start, this is a horse that has carried up to 62kg to win at the Sunshine Coast.

Sees Caulfield for the first time but handled their interstate debut without issue at Flemington and this is the right distance (8-3-0-1). They also go well second-up (4-1-1-1) and that 33.33% win rate is the second best of the field.

2nd: #11 Zamorar

Bet Now: $4.50

Definite up and comer that is starting to see the love from the punters. They will get every chance from barrier three jumping one outside of the favourite Green Birdie (barrier two).

They have been at the top of their game this time in around Melbourne, has won at the track and comes off two black-type minor placings most recently third in the Monash.

Will appreciate the firmer trakc and better draw here and their Win Rate of 40% is the best of the race as is their impressive 80% place percentage while their Caulfield (3-1-1-1) and distance (4-1-1-1) records are also nothing to be sneezed at.

3rd: #13 Royal Bender

Bet Now: $10

Super consistent mare from Darren Weir’s stables has the inside alley and if they make that work for them can be right up there in the finish.

Went down a nose to their stablemate in the Monash and if they pull out a similar run could be the juicy winner of the day. Has form in black types and mares have a good record here.
