Having returned to racing in typically scintillating form this season, Robbie Laing-trained Lord Of The Sky has opened as and maintained resounding favouritism for success in the 2014 Bletchingly Stakes, currently offered at generous odds of $1.60.

Securing an impressive total of five wins and one minor places from just eight competitive starts, Lord Of The Sky stamped his claims as one to watch from his very first racing preparation through the winter of 2013; finishing fourth amongst classy company in the IRT International Breakfast Plate (1118m) on debut before breaking through for a maiden victory in the Procal Dairies Handicap (1000m).

Continuing to build in class over a short summer campaign, the Danerich colt has more than earned his favourites tag for this weekend’s feature race off the back of a close second in the Auckland Racing Club Handicap (1000m) first-up and back-to-back victories in the Taralye Listen Learn Speak Handicap (1000m) and Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) most recently.

Allocated the central barrier 5, Laing is plotting a Group-level path for Lord Of The Sky through spring and is understandably confident of further success in the 2014 Bletchingly Stakes.

Yet to receive much more than a sprinkling of wagers for success in the 2014 Bletchingly Stakes, Le Bonsir has maintained sole occupancy of the second line of betting, currently available at a generous quote of $7.

Contesting a total of eight race wins and 12 minor places from 31 starts, Le Bonsir has been one of Victoria’s most consistent runners through winter and carriers exceptional form to Caulfield this weekend.

Returning to racing this year for second in the Listed Abell Stakes (1200m) on March 14th, the Choisir gelding has continued to build in form and class on his way to second in both the John Monash Stakes and Listed Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) most recently.

Confirmed to be partnered by regular jockey Daniel Moor, Le Bonsir is offered a great chance of going one better than his two most recent runs from the ideal barrier 1, and is more than worth a wager for success in the Bletchingly Stakes at current odds.

Currently sharing the third line of betting at $8.50 odds, Nearest To Pin and Thiamandi each carry winning form into the Bletchingly Stakes and are likely to receive ideal runs via gates 2 and 3 respectively.

One of South Australia’s most exciting sprinting prospects, Nearest To Pin displayed a keen turn of foot to claim an upset victory in the All Victoria Sprint Final last time out, registering without doubt his biggest career victory to date.

Aiming for a hat-trick of race wins when lining up for the Bletchingly Stakes, Thiamandi is set to be partnered by jockey Michael Rodd for the first time.
