A talented list of eleven sprinters have been included in nominations for Saturday’s featured 2015 Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse, highlighted by the pending appearance of some of the winter’s standout shout course specialists.
Petrology was a standout performer for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig through the 2014 Spring Carnival and has been included in nominations to kick off his 2015 spring campaign in the Bletchingly Stakes.
Posting three wins and as many minors through 12 competitive starts so far, Petrology stamped his claims as one to watch from his maiden campaign through late 2014 autumn; winning his debut start and finishing second to Pressing in the Listed Mt Dandenong Stakes (1200m) most notably.
Returning in spring for fifth in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) on August 23rd, the son of Fastnet Rock was unable to make much of a competitive impact in his next three starts, but ended his preparation with consecutive wins in the Listed TV Stakes (1800m) and Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m).
Returning this year for second in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1300m) on January 26th, Petrology again failed to fire in his next two starts but has reportedly taken huge benefit from his time in the paddock.
Lord Of The Sky was unable to make anything of a competitive impact in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) following a freshen-up on July 4th, but should have taken plenty of benefit from the run ahead of Saturday’s Bletchingly Stakes.
Undoubtedly returning to racing in career-best form this year, the Danerich entire overcame a luckless run of eleventh in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) to finish fourth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on Match 14th.
Undoubtedly producing his best effort to date when finishing second to Chautauqua by the bob of a head in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships, Lord Of The Sky again finished a close second in the Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m), in what was his only other start prior to the Sir John Monash Stakes.
Nadeem Lass should be well suited to the conditions of the 2015 Bletchingly Stakes, particularly if allocated a favourable draw on Wednesday.
Claiming three wins and a further sixteen minors through 37 career starts, the Nadeem mare has found competitive black type form through a long and busy preparation this time; finishing third in each of the Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m), Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) and Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) most notably.
Having finished fifth in the Listed All Victorian Sprint Final (1200m) last time out on July 11th, trainer Robbie Griffiths is confident of another polished performance in the Bletchingly Stakes.
Former Perth sprinter Platinum Rocker has been transferred to the care of Lee and Shannon Hope for the 2015 Spring Carnival and is set to contest her first start on Saturday after being included in 2015 Bletchingly Stakes nominations.
Having finished second in the 2013 edition of the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) most notably, Platinum Rocker has trialled well in the lead-up to her racing return but will have to overcome a reasonable weight if to claim first-up success.
The 2015 Bletchingly Stakes final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
